or in person at: Downtown Dance Collective 406.541.7240 Bruno’s Movement Practices/Capoeira Thursday’s from 6:30-7:30PM MASC Studio, 1200 Shakespeare St, Missoula, MT 59802 mascstudio.com (406) 282-4005 Currently, Bruno is investigating mind and body pathways with the intent to maximize the full expression of the self. He begins from within the personal vessel, minimizing outside forces and energies; generating truth, clarity and strength. This initial portion of the movement practice/warmup starts slow, and picks up in speed in a natural way. The technical components which are taken from his knowledge in Ballet, Tai Chi, Afro Cuban Modern Dance, and Capoeira are then introduced. At this point the class moves on to the creation and performance components, which Bruno leads through improvisation based tasks and phrase materials. Special focus to the weaving of individual voices when working in partnerships is emphasized. He challenges the participants to stay with their personal expression while also taking in the experience of being among other bodies. In this particular part of the practice, everyone is encouraged to perform for themselves, rather than for each other. This practice is designed for people of all ages, and does not require previous dance experience. Original music accompanies the practice. The work coordinates movement, breathing and mental focus. Many dancers and professional athletes take GYROKINESIS® classes to stay injury free, and reach their fullest potential in their fields.
